What is your status?

I think the castle itself is conspiring with the traitors against us.

We've lost Stephen, Ned, Gunther, Maximus, and that's just getting started. The corridors are littered with the bodies of Enforcers.

I think we need to make a tactical retreat. We can choose better ground than this.

Come immediately to Hogwarts. Your wands are needed to destroy the last remnant of the traitors once led by Albus Dumbledore.

Every one of you must come join this last, glorious battle.
alt_savitha: (Dubious)
We need every available wand at Hogwarts, immediately.

To the one who now calls himself Harry Potter:

You belong to me, and always have. This has always been your purpose. This has always been your destiny. Accept it -
embrace it.

Come to me and you need never know pain or fear again. Come to me willingly, and you can end this pointless conflict now and forever. Come to me before midnight in two days' time, and no one else need die because of your cowardice. Submit to my will, and understand. It's time, Harry.

Your schoolmates' lives depend on you obeying my command.

My dears, I just thought I would check in with you to see how you're doing. Whether you need any additional Enforcers sent down to manage discipline, that sort of thing.

We can send in some extra Enforcers tonight so you'll have a chance to get some sleep. If anything changes, we will of course wake you.

The Enforcers are here; I'm sending down Sally-Anne Perks, Millicent Bullstrode, Pansy Parkinson, Gregory Goyle, and Blaise Zabini. Are they going to be held in the Great Hall or has someone thought

Would you like Hydra to come down to help with watching them? Or will the Enforcers alone be responsible? For that matter, I am at your service, but someone will need to remain to keep an eye on the Slytherins from the other six years.

I had a thoroughly interesting conversation with your daughter this morning, Bellatrix. She believes Antonin Dolohov to be guilty of treason -- specifically, that he's been aiding the escape of various traitors from the castle. He warded Aurora Sinistra's tower so that she was alerted in time to escape; she says he wrote to Evelyn Longbottom, saying something innocuous to warn her to flee; and she believes he knew that Draco was alive, though she hasn't been able to confirm it.

Could you have journal monitoring check his conversations with Aurora and the Longbottom girl?

Do you think this is merely Hydra attempting to throw suspicion in any direction that's not toward herself? I've asked her for some specific information that we'll be able to double-check later, though frankly this is just not a good week to try to find out anything more complex than which exams everyone is most worried about. Once NEWTs are over, the 7th years should be a bit more relaxed and revealing.

I assume you're occupied with the search for young Marvolo, but I thought I ought to let you know what Hydra told me. She said she didn't say anything before because she wasn't sure, and hesitated to accuse someone so respected and powerful without extensive evidence; Barty's mentorship of her, and Antonin's of Barty, also complicated matters. Needless to say, my own position here relative to Antosha also creates a certain amount of awkwardness, but believe me, I'll be keeping a careful eye on him.

Miss Lestrange, I'd like a report at your earliest convenience regarding what you might have gleaned during the Memorial Service, as well as during any other conversations you were present for. I am most interested in the students in Miss Greengrass's year, though naturally I expect you to report on any seditious thoughts you might have overheard.

Over the journals will be fine. We're both quite busy at the moment and finding a time for you to drop by my office will be more challenging than you simply writing down what you've learned.

My dear students,

We have all been through a terrible shock -- well, a series of terrible shocks, really. No one expects sedition in Slytherin House, no one expects treason from the Head Girl, and of course no one expected Our Lord's own chosen son to turn on him in violence.

But of course, neither Daphne Greengrass nor Harry Marvolo was merely a traitor; they were, for years, our friends and Housemates, just as Vincent Crabbe was.

There will be a meeting in the common room tonight for all House members. First, to honour the sacrifice of young Vincent Crabbe and to drink a toast to his memory. But also, to remember Daphne Greengrass -- her strengths as well as her failings. I would discourage any students from disparaging the fond words of their classmates. Please treat this as a safe space and say your piece without fear.

I expect to see all of you this evening after supper.

Was out for much of last night trying to find Harry. My search was focused on Hogsmeade. Around 4 a.m., we discovered a bit of missing grid -- a bit outside of town, there should be a house but it's not there, and we think it's probably under the Fidelius charm. He might have holed up there.

How he slipped past the Enforcers on the grounds last night is not, thankfully, my job to explain or justify.

We've got someone posted outside the location near Hogsmeade to watch it, and have set anti-apparation wards, though whether they'll affect the area inside a Fidelius charm isn't clear to me. Someone's contacting Rookwood to see if there's a way to make that work.

I've checked on my Snakes this morning and they appear to be more or less bearing up. I assume you'll be appointing Padma Patil as Head Girl for the remainder of the year. I'd suggest Pansy Parkinson as seventh-year prefect; she's respectable and respected, and though there's not a great deal of year left I think the younger ones need some leadership from one of the seventh-year girls. In the fifth year, I think we should immediately replace Astoria Greengrass with Victoria Pummel; Astoria is distraught and not thinking clearly, and as the sister of a known traitor, she falls under the shadow of suspicion.

Is there anything else I can do to assist you?

My dears, as Antosha announced at dinner, the Lord Protector will be coming to the school tomorrow.

Harry, our Headmaster has requested as a personal favour that you wear Slytherin colours while your Father is here. You may sleep wherever you choose; I think it unlikely that Our Lord will demand to inspect your bed. But as a courtesy not only to the Headmaster but to me, and to and both your Slytherin and your Gryffindor friends, please refrain from anything that would likely infuriate Our Lord. Against either of the two Houses.

(Ron, I included you in this message because I know you and Harry are good friends; I assume that when Harry moved himself into Gryffindor Tower, you were the one who told him the password. I want you to understand that no one is trying to force Harry out of whichever House he prefers to claim. Simply to avoid a difficult scene, it would be best if Harry dresses in Slytherin colours and refrains from loudly proclaiming any other affiliations until Our Lord has returned to Buckingham.)

As much as the enmity between Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin is remembered, the Sorting Hat occasionally likes to remind us that before they were enemies, they were the closest of friends. Ron, as a Gryffindor (from a family of Gryffindors) with a number of close friends in my House, and Harry, as someone who has managed to claim affiliation to both Slytherin and Gryffindor, the two of you rather embody the potential of that friendship. The two of you show that the traits of the two Houses are not necessarily opposed, but complement each other. I hope we can show that potential to Our Lord this weekend.
alt_savitha: (Intrigued)
Come to my office at MLE immediately. I'm taking you to Dover.
alt_savitha: (Dubious)
I assume you got the stack of parchments for the Gryffindors? Not surprisingly, Harry Marvolo's was sent to me, as I'm still his Head of House of record. You can send him to my office to pick it up, or I can pass it along to you to give to him. Which would you prefer?
alt_savitha: (Default)
There are some new regulations regarding New London: half-bloods must be off the streets after 9 p.m. (Travel by floo from one interior point to another is still permissible.) There are new identification parchments for those who live in or will be spending time in New London, and the Ministry sent them to Heads of Houses for distribution to our students before the upcoming holiday.

All of you should stop by my office at your convenience to pick yours up.
alt_savitha: (Default)
Kindly report to my office when classes are over and explain yourselves. I will refrain from taking points until I can hear something resembling a coherent story from each of you.
alt_savitha: (Measuring)
My dear students, I regret to tell you that I will be cancelling my Defence classes tomorrow. I expect to be well enough to teach by Tuesday. Please use the time wisely by reading about a defence topic of your choice using texts either from the library, or borrowed from one of your Housemates.

I've been giving some thought to the question of instructors and I've thought of a few who might be qualified.

Neave Cavanaugh and Jove Bobolis were in school at around the same time as Gwendolyn. (And the Carrows.) Cavanaugh's a Herbologist -- had a book come out for the popular market a year or two back, I think, someone gave it to me as a birthday gift for some reason. I'm not sure why; I loathe gardening. She was also a Hufflepuff, which would be convenient. Jove Bobolis was noted at being exceptional at Transfiguration and I think he was either a Hufflepuff or a Gryffindor -- if the latter, I'm sure Lana would not object in the slightest to passing off that responsibility.

Of course, I have no idea if either is suited to teaching. Which is why I thought I'd also mention Xerxes Glozeman. He taught Charms for a few years, once we'd removed that loathsome little goblin who taught it before the war. Xerxes was certainly more talented at Charms than any other area, but he was a thoroughly talented wizard, and he was a fine teacher.
alt_savitha: (Default)
Poppy Pomfrey appears to have left the castle.

David Brutka is also missing.

No one has been able to penetrate the wards on Aurora Sinistra's tower.

All other staff are secured.
alt_savitha: (Preparing)
My dear, what exactly is going on? And surely I would be more useful to you at your side than under the supervision of my own department's Enforcers, polite though they've been?
alt_savitha: (Considering)
I've been disappointed by the lack of interest in the invitation I issued on the 14th. Have any students approached you? I've seen Crabbe's and Goyle's sons, as well as a Gryffindor sixth year who's not sure if his mother will give permission -- Archer.

I suppose it's possible that between us we'd got all the likely ones already.
