Homework for next week: 7th Years

For next week, I expect each of you to write an essay exploring your own strengths and weaknesses in battle (by which I mean any sort of defensive or offensive magical experiences you have had; for some of you that might mean CCF, for others duelling club, for others merely the occasional skirmish with peers). I assure you that I will hold these in confidence; you need not worry about giving away your secrets to the very peers who could be your rivals as we practise these skills going forward. (Nor will I turn you over to the Headmaster for discipline, should you mention such illicit activities as hexing a classmate in the corridors!)
However, you should also each choose two classmates, one of whom can be a good friend and one of whom you know less intimately, and write about their strengths and weaknesses. You may most certainly pair up with some individual and each write about the other.
I am, of course, aware that there are rivalries and enmities not only between Houses but between classmates. I will look with particular favour on anyone who manages to write a convincing essay about the strengths and weaknesses of their most bitter rival, whoever it might be, or someone they tend to get on with poorly.
Remember: knowledge is power!
Essays are due Monday morning after breakfast; you can hand them to me directly if you wish, or bring them by my office. I want this information before I meet with you on Wednesday; it will help me to give you a more interesting and rewarding lesson that day.
